Ask your doctor for a referral if you:
- Are a diabetic patient that requires yearly examinations
- Have a family history of eye disease (glaucoma, macular degeneration/etc.)
- Are an older patient with visual complaints to evaluate for cataracts:
- Difficulty with night vision/driving
- Difficulty reading
- All sickle cell patients, especially sickle cell disease
- Have signs of eye infection refractive to treatment or atypical in presentation
- Are diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA),rheumatoid arthritis (RA), sarcoidosis, inflammatory bowel disease or other rheumatologic diseases to screen for uveitis
- Those who use ethambutol or Plaquenil and require baseline and ongoing screening examinations
- Have visual complaints such as flashes, dimming of vision or missing part of the visual field require urgent evaluation to rule out retinal detachment
