Timothy Pike, MD, is a board-certified internist and nationally recognized physician executive with more than 20 years of leadership experience across academic, community, and integrated health systems. As Division Chief of General Internal Medicine at EVMS and Old Dominion University, he leads efforts to transform primary care delivery, expand access, and improve quality outcomes across both ambulatory and inpatient settings.
Dr. Pike has held senior executive roles including Chief Medical Officer and Chief Operating Officer in multiple systems, including Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), Sentara Healthcare, Mass General Brigham and Beth Israel Lahey Health. He has designed and implemented initiatives to reduce clinical variation, enhance multidisciplinary care, integrate EMR systems, and promote physician wellness. He is widely regarded for his expertise in high-reliability healthcare, performance improvement, and medical staff and faculty development.
His academic work includes quality improvement, medical education, and research on chronic stress, immune dysregulation, and hypertension in vulnerable populations. He is currently collaborating with Tel Aviv University on an international study examining war-related stress exposure and immune health.
Dr. Pike earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Midwestern University, completed his internal medicine training at Loyola University Medical Center and MacNeal Hospital (serving as Chief Resident), and holds an MBA in Healthcare Administration. He also completed an 18-month fellowship through the Physician Executive Leadership Institute at Brandeis University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Certified Physician Executive. He has also completed Black belt level training in Lean Six Sigma.
