Latoya Augustine is a dedicated Family Nurse Practitioner with over a decade of experience as a registered nurse and a strong commitment to serving minority and underserved communities. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University in 2010, she spent 13 years providing patient-centered care in various settings, including cardiac, intensive care, and public health.

In May 2023, she completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Virginia Commonwealth University and became a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She further refined her clinical skills through a postgraduate residency in Family Medicine with Primary Care Specialists under the guidance of Dr. James Newby. During this transformative period, she affirmed her passion for advancing health equity and integrating holistic, culturally competent care into her practice.

Currently, Latoya serves as a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner and NeuroHealth specialist at the Glennan Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology and the Goldrich Institute for Integrated NeuroHealth at Eastern Virginia Medical School Virginia Health Sciences at ODU and Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital. She treats patients with both acute and chronic conditions while maintaining a strong focus on compassionate care for aging populations.

Driven by a desire to impact healthcare beyond the bedside, she is actively involved in educational initiatives and clinical research. Her professional goals include increasing minority participation in clinical research and developing comfort care and compassionate ventilator liberation protocols in long-term acute care facilities.

Latoya’s clinical background includes experience in gastroenterology, primary care, cardiology, and public health. She is a recipient of multiple scholarships and honors, including the Phyllis Harsh Cordel and Lettie Pate Whitehead Scholarships, and is a proud member of Sigma Theta Tau, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners.

Her passion for mentorship and community outreach is evident in her volunteer work and educational activities, including health education classes, public speaking engagements, and protocol development. Latoya Augustine remains steadfast in her mission to elevate healthcare standards through clinical excellence, education, advocacy, and research.
